Linen Care Guide — HACOY
Linen wants simple treatment. Do these five things and your HACOY linen piece will outlast almost everything else in your wardrobe.
You will need: mild detergent, drying rack or padded hanger, iron (optional).
Step 1: Wash cold on a delicate cycle
30 °C or cooler. Use a mild, enzyme-free detergent. Wash inside-out to protect colour depth. Skip fabric softener — it coats linen and kills the crisp hand.
Step 2: Air-dry flat or on a wide hanger
Linen loves air; it hates tumble dryers. High heat shrinks the weave and breaks the fibre. Dry flat on a towel or on a padded hanger away from direct sunlight.
Step 3: Iron while damp if you want crisp
Iron on the linen setting while the fabric is still slightly damp. For the lived-in look, skip ironing entirely — the relaxed crease is part of linen's personality.
Step 4: Store folded, not hung
Long-term storage on a hanger distorts the shoulders of a linen shirt. Fold with acid-free tissue between pieces. A breathable cotton garment bag is ideal for seasonal storage.
Step 5: Spot clean small marks quickly
Dab (never rub) with cool water and a drop of gentle soap. Treat stains within an hour for best results. For stubborn marks, soak the affected area in cool water for 30 minutes before a normal wash.
